Lyric-by-Lyric #1 "The Time(Dirty Bit)" by Black Eyed Peas

I always wanted to do music. Ever since I found out that you can become popular by complaining about stuff on the internet, I thought that could probably be my thing. But there are 2 problems with that: 1. There are music reviewers that are way funnier than me 2. I'm more interested in movies. So I decided to make music a blog thing instead. Here's the first song that caught my attention. The Time(Dirty Bit) by Black Eyed Peas.

First, let me talk about the Peas. I like what they do with their music. I like their positive attitude. They're songs that are great to dance to. Those are what I like about them. What I don't like about their songs is when they start singing. Their lyrics are not the most clever. Now, dance music isn't really supposed to be smart. The lyrics don't really matter at all, it's just for dancing. But that's what's amazing about the Peas: their lyrics are horrible even for dance music. And, it's hard for me to enjoy myself at a party if I'm hearing Fergie talk about her humps. So let's see what they're doing now:

I had the time of my life and I never felt this way before
and I swear this is true and I owe it all to you...

It's a song that samples that samples (I've Had) The Time of My Life from the movie "Dirty Dancing".... And it's a pop song by the Black Eyed Peas....This is gonna be bad.

Oh, I had the time of my life and I never felt this way before,
And, I swear this is true and I owe it all to you(like, 20x)...

That repetition is not entertaining at all.

And, what is it with sampling a song for your chorus? When you make a song you want people out there to be singing it to themselves or with someone, right? Well most people usually just sing the chorus. If your chorus is from another song, how are you supposed to know they're singing your song? It's doesn't say anything about your own talent is what I'm trying to say.

dirty bit...

...Uh, pardon me?

dirty bit...

No, seriously. What does that mean? What does "dirty bit" mean? Is it some new dance move you just invented? Some new slang? What is dirty and what is bit in this context? Oh, I get it "Dirty Bit" like "Dirty Dancing". That's what it means...I think. ANSWER ME!!!

I-I came up in here to rock,
light a fire...make it hot,
I don't wanna take no pictures,
I just wanna take some shots. So...

Oh well, isn't that romantic? will.i.am, if you're going to rip-off your chorus, could at least not make the rest of the song be different?

..come on lets go. lets lose control,
Let's do it all night till we can't do it no more...

I might be wrong because I'm getting these lyrics of from an untrustworthy website but, I'm pretty sure that's a double negative he just did there.

We gon rock it to the sound. turn it up and watch it (bounce)...

"watch" it bounce? Watch what bounce? It can't be the "sound" because sound can't be seen!

we gon rock it to the top until the roof gon (pouring) down...

"gon"?"pouring down"? what, a roof? Stop making me go all Grammar Nazi on you.

And yeah, it's hot in here, the temperature...

Well thank you, Black Eyed Peas. I would've never guessed it was the temperature that's getting hot.

It's got these ladies getting freakier...

I don't go to parties that much. But, if the heat is what's getting people to lose control, I'd start calling an ambulance.

I got freaky freaky baby. I was chilling with my ladies...

That was just stupid. And, there can't be any other person who thought otherwise. Also "I was chilling with my ladies"? When what? What happened?

I didn't come to get (perky). I come here to get crazy...

Apparently, you're not going to answer....Huh.

Get "perky"? What?

I was born to get wild,
that's my style,
if you didn't know that...
well baby now you know now...

Redundant line is redundant.

chorus

A-All these girls they like my swagger. They calling me Mick Jagger...

Great, another song that rhymes "swagger" with "Mick Jagger". Only Ke$ha and the Black Eyed Peas(I can't tell will.i.am's voice apart from apl.de.ap's) believe that Mick Jagger is attractive instead of, you know, like this:

And, this is just a recent picture.

I be rolling like the stones jet setter, jet-lagger...

My filler senses are tingling.

We ain't messin with no maggots,
messing with the baddest

chicks in the club,
Honey, what's up...

These are so obviously filler. None of these lines have any effort put into them.

mirror mirror on the wall,
it's the baddest of 'em all,

Yes, gotta be the apple,
I'm the mac daddy, y'all...

Yay! More bad puns!

All haters better step back,
ladies, download your app,
I'm the party application,
rock it just like that...

I don't know what that means. But the good news is, the song is finally coming to an end.

Cuz, I'm...having...a good...time...with you,
I'm telling you...

This does not make the chorus make any more sense.

chorus(2 which sounds like 4 since it's already repeated by a different singer x)

dirty bit

That was the song and, as you can guess, I didn't like it. The lyrics are made of pure stupid and the beat isn't even fun. Join me next time, maybe.

Hope you like it.
